This thread was closed and I wasn't taking all that for myself, That is why I asked for help. I was hoping to split it at least 10 ways. I was going to start on tournaments from level's 80-1 but then I get the responses I did. I closed this for a reason, I am no longer doing it so everything said in here can be forgotton. This includes me being a money grabbing scumbag. Thank you for your time and nobodies patiance

When you aim at 16 people, it means that you have to place 4th to get your money back ... it also means that the *organisation* takes more than the 2nd.
As the outcome is more or less predictable (i.e. the way nodiatis is designed), you better just give away your gold in advance.
Though having tournaments in nod is fun, the setup is rather bogus if you ask me.

Well I've done around 150 - 200 times 'the table' at foosball tournaments (pay out was at least 1500 euros) with minimum 4 brackets and about 120 teams. Players are allowed to play with a different team mate in another bracket, and often there was a mixed & DYP event as well (meaning that 1 member of a team can be free while the other one is busy playing in another event).
All it takes is downloading and printing out a couple of elimination charts (all over the web) and a pen. The only thing you have to do is wait for the result and call the next match. That is basically all it takes. While i did the table i was still able to participate in certain events myself, chase girls and get drunk.
Man i wish i got 40% of the entrance fees for doing that. But i got nothing, my entrance fees were free and so were my drinks. So 1-2% of the entrance fee went to the organisation. Of course the money maker was the food/drinks sold., but that was not our business (organisation). We did it for the love of the game, because we liked organising stuff and because we had great fun doing so. Which made us the most consistent foosball promoter in the country, europe and most likely the world at that time. Throughout the years we've seen many others holding a few events with much more money. But it never lasted long. In the end we got the player base and they didn't. Why? Cause the majority plays for fun, honor and the challenge rather than for the money. Nor do they want to be ripped off.
So while i value your attempt to organise a nod tourney, i strongly suggest to do it different.
- Start with a 100% payout (minus the taxes of course, make a projection about the transfer cost and be open about it). It really doesn't take much effort. If you don't like pen and paper, dowload one of the zillion free programs that can do it for you.
- Don't aim at 16 teams where only 3 can win something. Aim at 32 teams, make sure the first 16 get a price and make the differences smaller. It will lead to more happy participants who are likely to join the tourney a next time.
- After you have run a few successful free ones, no one will mind that you take 10% for your efforts. But place yourself in a players position when you need to pay 100k in advance, and where you have like 1-2 chances out of 16 to get your money back. 1 or 2 times max and you've lost those players.
- If you organise several successful events, try to organize 1 big one. Reserve 10-20% of the entrance fees for the superpot. This could be something like: 10 normal events, you need at least 7 participations and then you qualify for the big (final) event.
That way you build up something, you gain the trust of the players and they will associate your name with a fun game experience. Now you just say pay me 100k and you have virtually no chance to win something. Thats the wrong approach if you ask me.
Just me 2 cents
good luck

I addition to my post i was just thinking about how a DYP (draw your partner) would work out. Meaning that it's a 2 vs 2 event where you have 32 teams and where a lucky draw decides about the team compositions. It would attract more people as they still have a chance to draw a top player. Top players can still place high even if they draw a less experienced player. Tactics would become more important and more people have fun. Also, it's more likely to have returning participants as they have every time a chance to draw a good player and thus place in the money.
And what i forgot to mention above: get rid of the first round, just run double elimination throughout the whole tournament. It makes things less complicated to my experience. And it will also save you lots of questions.

That's because we didn't have an entrance fee, we did it for fun
